Our mission

UL Propuls’ mission is to support and develop innovation among socio-economic stakeholders by facilitating their access to the equipment and expertise held by Université de Lorraine, through one-off service engagements.

Many forms of collaboration exist between businesses and the academic world. UL Propuls is one of these many channels: it helps economic stakeholders innovate by facilitating their access to Université de Lorraine’s equipment and know-how, through tailor-made services.

Design and implementation of tailor-made experimental setups, laboratory testing (from gram to kg scale).

Analysis and characterisation testing of the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of materials and products. (physicochemical analysis, mechanical characterisation, quality control and regulatory compliance)

Literature & economic studies

Article synthesis, state-of-the-art reviews on a given topic, technology watch, techno-economic studies.

Literature reviews are generally produced in French; they can be written in English upon request.

Modelling & simulation

Process modelling, numerical flow simulation (stirred reactors, multiphase flows, heat transfer, mass transfer, combustion modelling, etc.) and development of custom numerical models.

Environmental analysis

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to quantify the environmental impacts generated by a system across its entire life cycle.

LCAs are carried out using SimaPro® software.

Preuve de notre engagement, certains essais que nous proposons sont certifiés COFRAC (accréditation n°1-2401), une reconnaissance officielle de notre excellence opérationnelle et de notre conformité aux normes les plus strictes.

Our teams specialise in numerous sectors such as process engineering, materials, textiles, geological resources, and the environment. As proof of our commitment, some of the tests we offer are COFRAC-certified (accreditation no. 1-2401), an official recognition of our operational excellence and compliance with the strictest standards.

Our teams specialise in numerous sectors such as process engineering, materials, textiles, geological resources, and the environment. We also draw on the skills (expertise and equipment) of academic research laboratories across the Lorraine region. Research themes are wide-ranging and are carried out across 60 research units by nearly 5,000 researchers and research-teaching staff. Here, we have highlighted 9 major fields of activity.
