Our mission
UL Propuls’ mission is to support and develop innovation among socio-economic stakeholders by facilitating their access to the equipment and expertise held by Université de Lorraine, through one-off service engagements.
Many forms of collaboration exist between businesses and the academic world. UL Propuls is one of these many channels: it helps economic stakeholders innovate by facilitating their access to Université de Lorraine’s equipment and know-how, through tailor-made services.

Tailor-made studies, adapted to your needs
Every need is unique. The services we offer are adapted to your specifications. That’s why we mobilise our teams to respond efficiently, drawing on the most suitable scientific and technical resources. Our support offering is structured around different service formats:
Experimental setups
Design and implementation of tailor-made experimental setups, laboratory testing (from gram to kilogram scale).
Test campaigns and operating parameter optimisation.
Analysis & characterisation testing
Analysis and characterisation testing of the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of materials and products. (physicochemical analysis, mechanical characterisation, quality control and regulatory compliance)
Literature & economic studies
Article synthesis, state-of-the-art reviews on a given topic, technology watch, techno-economic studies.
Modelling & simulation
Process modelling, ‘Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD: stirred reactors, multiphase flows, heat transfer, mass transfer, combustion modelling, etc.) and development of custom numerical models.
Environmental analysis
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to quantify the environmental impacts generated by a system across its entire life cycle.
LCAs are carried out using SimaPro® software.
Project coordination support
Support for multi-partner project leaders in the scientific and logistical coordination of their projects.

Our teams specialise in numerous sectors such as process engineering, materials, textiles, geological resources, and the environment. As proof of our commitment, some of the tests we offer are COFRAC-certified (accreditation no. 1-2401), an official recognition of our operational excellence and compliance with the strictest standards.

We also draw on the skills (expertise and equipment) of academic research laboratories across the Lorraine region.
